Chassis Construction

The chassis is created from pre cut tubular steel which are fettled to fit exactly in the chassis jig. Each piece being manually adjusted and bronze brazed into place like a giant three dimensional jig saw.

The jig holds the chassis in shape and has attachments for all the major fittings necessary for the suspension, engine, gearbox, body mountings etc.

As the chassis is built up the oil pipes and water pipes are pressure checked to ensure that there will be no leaks after construction is finished. All the oil and water points are provided as standard exactly as original, even though in most cases they are not used.

The entire chassis is then shot blasted and powder coated in Lotus grey.

Aluminium sheeting is then drilled and riveted in place to form the floor and sides of the cockpit, but note these sheets are in addition to the cost of the chassis itself.
